The RISC OS build environment allows you to build RISC OS tools, run and manipulate them. The environment can be supplied with RISC OS Pyromaniac support if needed, and with build tooling for RISC OS 64.

This demonstration shows some of the features of the RISC OS build environment.

The timeline has jump points for the following features:

  • 0:15 - We can start new projects
  • 0:28 - RISC OS files are highlighted with less.
  • 0:47 - We can build the sources
  • 1:25 - Less can examine the binaries
  • 2:10 - We can run things through the RISC OS build service
  • 2:32 - We can run things with RISC OS Pyromaniac
  • 3:12 - Executable files can be run directly
  • 3:36 - Editing with Nano has colouring for some RISC OS files
  • 4:08 - Running BASIC programs is just as easy
  • 4:43 - BASIC can be run as a regular command.
  • 5:40 - We can use RISC OS interactively, with the same working directory
  • 5:59 - Many library commands are supplied
  • 6:16 - Commands can be run as normal, with tab completion
  • 6:37 - Git can be used within RISC OS
  • 7:05 - Files are editable within RISC OS
  • 7:22 - Git messages can be supplied in an editor
  • 7:53 - Host git configuration for the user is propagated, and logs are coloured
  • 8:22 - We can tokenise the BASIC programs
  • 8:44 - less knows how to detokenise and colour BASIC
  • 9:05 - We can run BASIC with a VNC server exported to the host
  • 9:19 - VNC parameters are available in variables
  • 9:30 - We can use graphics commands and save to a PNG
  • 10:52 - Help is available on RISC OS operations
  • 11:30 - We can handle archives in RISC OS format
