NVMEof with Mellanox Offload and P2P Memory

This is a quick demonstration of NVME-of with Offload and P2P memory.

The switchtec gui shows the data is not going through the upstream port of the switch. Two iostat streams show the data going through the initiator (left) and target (right). We can see the io stats on the target show that the data is not going through Linux block layer, but instead being offloaded by the Mellanox CX-5 adapter.

While this site doesn't offer GIF conversion at the moment, you can still do it yourself with the help of asciinema GIF generator utility - agg.

Once you have it installed run the following command to create GIF file:

agg https://asciinema.org/a/162764 162764.gif

Or, if you already downloaded the recording file:

agg 162764.cast 162764.gif

Check agg --help for all available options. You can change font family and size, select color theme, adjust speed and more.
