Demonstration of the (failed) attempt of cracking Petya Green key by genetic algorithms. As we can see, the genetic approach does not take us any forward than the simple random attack. It is because the output that we get in this case does not allow us to measure the progress. We never know when we are coming closer to the solutions, so we cannot base the next key on the previous generations. Once you have it installed run the following command to create GIF file:

agg https://asciinema.org/a/87077 87077.gif

Or, if you already downloaded the recording file:

agg 87077.cast 87077.gif

Check agg --help for all available options. You can change font family and size, select color theme, adjust speed and more.
