Blogging With Pelican - 1

I started blogging 5 years back and I had my first blog through wordpress. I hope most people would have started blogging either through wordpress (or) blogspot.

It is always fun to find new ways of doing things. This is where pelican + git + (github / gitlab) pages combo turns blogging as an activity that is enjoyable for people like me who want to get most of the things get done without leaving the Terminal.

I have also written a brief post about the advantages of blogging this way.

Note: At the end of this cast, after executing make devserver open your web browser and visit http://localhost:8000

Replay in terminal

You can replay the downloaded recording in your terminal using the asciinema play command:

Use with stand-alone player on your website

Download asciinema player from the releases page (you only need .js and .css file), then use it like this:

While this site doesn't offer GIF conversion at the moment, you can still do it yourself with the help of asciinema GIF generator utility - agg.

Once you have it installed run the following command to create GIF file:

agg https://asciinema.org/a/37516 37516.gif

Or, if you already downloaded the recording file:

agg 37516.json 37516.gif

Check agg --help for all available options. You can change font family and size, select color theme, adjust speed and more.
